Takashi Kiryu to Become Square Enix's New President!



Takashi Kiryu (shown left) will take over as Square Enix's president and representative director, the business announced on Friday. Yosuke Matsuda will step down. Square Enix Holdings Co, Ltd. and SQUARE ENIX CO, LTD. will both have Kiryu as their president and representative director. At the shareholder meetings in May and June, the business intends to formally implement the change.

Matsuda will leave the business. In April 2013 and June 2013, respectively, he was appointed president and representative director of SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. and Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd.


Square Enix explains the change as follows:

Amid the rapid changes in the business environment of the entertainment industry, the management team has been reorganized with the aim of adopting ever-evolving technological innovation, maximizing the creativity of the corporate group, and providing better entertainment to customers around the world. The change that you propose to organize.


In June 2020, Kiryu was appointed general manager of Square Enix's business planning section. In April 2021, he was appointed as the organization's corporate strategy and corporate communications department's executive officer. In January 2022, he was elected chairman of the board of Square Enix in China, and in May of that same year, he was elected director of SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. In June 2022, he subsequently rose to the position of director of Square Enix Holdings Ltd.
