Sega Launches Sonic Origins Collection of Sonic the Hedgehog Games on June 23, 2022

Sega released a Statement saying that Sonic Origins, a new collection of remastered Sonic the Hedgehog titles, will be released on June 23 through Steam and Epic Games Store for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Classic and anniversary modes will be available, with the latter offering a full-screen display and endless lives. Missions will award medallions that may be used to unlock extra material in the collection. The franchise's most recent major game, Sonic Mania was released in August 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. In the Christmas season of 2022, Sonic Frontiers, a new game in the franchise, will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.

According to Box Office Mojo, the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sequel film from Paramount Pictures debuted in the United States on April 8 and grossed an estimated US$26.5 million on its first day. On August 19, the film will be released in Japan.
