Happy Pokemon Day to all of you Poke Fanatics out there! Today the Pokemon Company and Game Freak hosted a Nintendo Direct that we have all been waiting for. Tsunekazu Ishihara, the CEO of the Pokemon Company, gave us a first look at the next big Pokemon RPG, Pokemon Sword, and Pokemon Shield.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield the long-awaited next entry in the mainline Pokemon franchise. This time we will be exploring a brand new Pokemon Region with some all-new pocket monsters to befriend and collect.
Shigeru Ohmori, the Director for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, greeted us with a glimpse at our new starter pokemon friends. Grookey the grass type chimp Pokemon, Scorbunny, the fire-type rabbit, and Sobble, the water-type lizard Pokemon, each one is cuter than the previous. The three new Pokemon hail from the new Galar Region.
Galar is a region with all types of terrain from vast plains to snowy mountains. The expansive UK inspired region contains Industries developed by human and pokemon alike, and of course, the ever-critical Pokemon Gyms. Once again we will have to battle trainers and gym leaders to become the greatest Pokemon Trainer there ever was!
The game looks beautiful on the Nintendo Switch console, showcasing different outfits for our trainers and gorgeous landscapes. The Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield trailer gave us moments of trainers traveling through all sorts of different places like Bavarian cities to gem filled mining shafts. I can’t wait to start playing both!
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will release Worldwide in Late 2019.
