"I will prove myself!" At only 28 years old, the youngest daughter of Torbjörn will take up arms as the newest Support hero in Overwatch. Like father like daughter, Bridgette spent much of her youth in her father's workshop, believing that those who created armor and weapons were as much heroes as those who wielded them. A promising engineer, Brigette wanted to create armor and improve defenses, expected to continue in her father's footsteps. Though this all changed when she decided to join the father figure in her life, Reinhardt; who is both her godfather and who picked her name with Torbjörns blessing after he saved him during Operation White Dome. She would follow him on his journeys to bring justice after the fall of Overwatch as his squire, caring for both Reinhardt and his armor after his many battles, including their fight against the Dragons. It is presumed that it was during this time that Reinhardt taught Brigette to fight while she built her own armor in secret. Though Brigette was adamantly against her old hero's return to Overwatch, she now realizes that is her time to fight by his side on the battlefield, if not to protect him and others from their own recklessness. You can watch Brigette's origin story below, and if you look closely at 0:22 you may just see one of Jeff Kaplan's scrapped creations.
Yielding her Rocket Flail, Brigette's moves are definitely inspired by both her father and her knight. Like Torbjörn, she can throw packs that heal her teammates, and she can swing wide like Reinhardt to strike multiple targets. The tankiest of support hero's, Brigette's full set of lethal moves can be found via Blizzard's Hero Overview:
Rocket Flail – Brigitte’s melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing.
Repair Pack – Brigitte throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead.
Whip Shot – Brigitte throws her flail a long distance, dealing damage and knocking an enemy away from her.
Barrier Shield – Brigitte deploys a frontal energy barrier to absorb a limited amount of damage.
Shield Bash – Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, Brigitte can dash forward to stun an enemy.
Inspire – When Brigitte hits enemies with her flail, she also heals nearby allies over time.
Rally – Brigitte moves faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage.
Brigette is the 27th hero and seventh support hero added to the roster, and is available now for testing on the public test region for PC to be released on PS4 and XboxOne at a later date.
