Shueisha's Jump J-Books subsidiary has announced that a book adaptation of the One Piece Feature Red anime film will be released on August 9th. Jun Esaka will write a novel based on Tsutomu Kuroiwa's script for the One Piece franchise. Esaka is the author of the One Piece Heroines spinoff novel and has also written multiple Naruto novels.
On August 6, the film will be released in Japan. Shanks' daughter, Uta (shown right), will play a key role in the film. Uta's spoken voice will be provided by Kaori Nazuka, and the character's singing voice will be provided by Ado. Ado will also sing "Shinjidai," the film's theme song ("New Genesis"). Gordon will be voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda in the film.
One Piece Film Red is directed by Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass, One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak! (special)). The screenplay is written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film Gold, One Piece: Heart of Gold, GANTZ:O, live-action Black Butler), with Eiichiro Oda, the author of the One Piece comic, acting as executive producer.
For the film, Oda also created the "battle wear" characters, who have a "rock x pirates" motif and contain leather and studs for a Middle Ages armor atmosphere.
