Nintendo VR is Coming in April

The Nintendo Switch is one of the sleekest consoles, and it is about to get some new parts. The Nintendo Labo: VR Kit was announced on Wednesday, and will be on our heads and in our hands on April 12th. The new Labo kit gives us a first look at what Nintendo plans to do with VR technology.

The Nintendo Labo: VR Kit will come in two different variations. There will be a complete bundle for $79.99US and a starter bundle for $39.99US. The larger $79.99 VR Kit will contain the Switch software, the VR Goggles, a Blaster, a Bird, the Wind Pedal, and an Elephant. Each part will have to be put together by the consumer much like all of the other Labo Kits. This VR Kit is for those who want to dive head first into Nintendo's VR solution.

Those who may be a little more hesitant in using Nintendo’s VR can purchase the Starter Bundle. This smaller bundle will include, Switch software, the VR Goggles, and the Blaster. After trying out the goggles and the blaster, you can pick up the other parts through VR Kit Expansions 1 and 2. These expansions will contain the other VR parts for $19.99US. There is no word on exactly when these parts will be sold, yet.

Each build of the Labo: VR Kit has handheld components. Nintendo claims that they want the VR experience to be easy to pass around giving users a natural ability to share what they see. Since every part is made from thin cardboard, we will just have to wait to find out how long it will take to get tired from playing the game.

Because of the hardware on the Nintendo Switch, it will be interesting to see the quality of the VR experience. The 720p resolution on the Switch screen may not give us the best visual experience, but it is still too early to tell since Nintendo has not shown any in-game captures. I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer to see the full extent of Nintendo’s VR power.

For those of you who are interested in making their own VR experiences, Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Garage will be updated with VR settings. I can't wait to see and play what the Nintendo Labo community will create.
