The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have been working hard on their next title coming to the Nintendo Switch. Earlier this week, the Official Pokemon Channel on Youtube revealed some Pokemon and characters that are coming to the franchise. These new Pokemon will become our new best friends, and the following Gym Leaders will become our rivals in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Here is everything that was revealed.

Just like in every new Pokemon title, we will be encountering unique species of Pokemon. The new Fairy-type, Alcremie, is native to the Galar region and looks just like Cool Whip and strawberries.

Yamper, the electric-type scurries his way into our hearts with his Corgi body. The Youtube trailer shows off his adorable tailwhip abilities, and our resistance to cuteness has dropped dramatically.

Steady as a rock-type, Rolycoly, looks like a cooled down volcanic rock. He makes Geodude look like Michaelangelo’s Adam.

Duraludon is the new steel and dragon-type. He may look tiny at first, but his power may surprise us, like most dragons.

Gym Leaders

The Galar region brings an all-new set of Pokemon Gyms or Arenas to light. We will need to collect all of the Gym Badges to take on the Elite Four, so we will have to challenge the Gym Leaders. The Pokemon Official Youtube channel gave us a look at the arena-style battles that happen all the time in the Galar region while also granting us a look at the leaders themselves.

Bea, the fighting-type expert, doesn’t wear shoes and opts for bare feet on the ground instead. Her posture oozes strength.

Ghost-type expert, Allister, is all kinds of weird with his mask. His spooky tendencies may prove to allude our Pokemon strategy.

Gigantamax Battles

The most prominent battles of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will take place in these gigantic arenas for a reason. A new style of fighting called Gigantamax will make its debut in the Galar region.

Gigantamaxing will increase the size of our Pokemon while also making them more powerful. This action will require us to throw out a gigantic Pokeball and stand by our enormous Pokemon in battle.

New Pokemon of the Galar region and older Pokemon will be able to enter this state of battle so prepare for the worst. Gigantamax Pokemon will change in size and appearance, but this effect will only last a few turns in combat.

These are only some of the characters we will be interacting within Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Both games are set for a November 15th release worldwide.
