Marvel has dropped tons on new information about our favorite web-slinging hero at the San Diego Comic Con! The Marvel Games Panel had information on a lot of Marvel games from Mobile to VR, but Spider-Man PS4 arguably had one of the coolest trailers. Let's discuss some of the new details they provided.
New Story Details
Insomniac's Spider-Man Game has plenty of villains, but that doesn't mean we don't want to see more. The Story trailer (shown above) gave us a glimpse at Mayor Norman Osborne and Silver Sable. Sable is under Osborne's employment and is hunting down Spider-Man like a criminal.
Norman Osborne has always been a thorn in Spider-Man's side. Whether he is using political power to stop the Spider or attacking him head-on as the Green Goblin, Osborne is a true Spider-Man rival. It is because of him that Spider-Man keeps his identity a secret after the death of his beloved Gwen Stacy. Norman Osborne's Green Goblin persona has not been spoken about and has not been seen. But I'm hoping he makes an appearance.
Silver Sable has been in several Spider-Man stories after her first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #265. Tom DeFalco (Writer) and Ron Frenz (Artist) created her to be a mercenary for hire. In many comic book stories, she is an ally to Spider-Man. Maybe the game's version of Silver Sable will be an ally by the end of the campaign.
New Suit
The pre-order bonuses for Spider-Man on have slowly trickled out and Marvel has given us the final one, the Velocity Suit. Drawn by Marvel artist, Adi Granov, the new costume has a glowing spider emblem. This suit, along with Infinity War's Iron Spider suit, and the Spider Punk costume will only be available for those who choose to pre-order Spider-Man on PlayStation 4.
Limited Edition Art Book
The art doesn't just stop with a new costume. Spider-Man: The Art of the Game has been announced for pre-order. This coffee table book will feature concept art of costumes, characters, and the digital world of New York from Insomniac's game. All of the art has been provided by the team that assisted in the creation of the Spider-Man title.
Vinyl Soundtrack
While you are looking at the art of the Spider-Man game, you can listen to the official soundtrack by Mondo. The two-disc vinyl is available for pre-order now with music by John Paesano. The sleeve art done by Craig Drake is phenomenal.
PlayStation 4 Pro Exclusive Bundle Price
Sony took to the stage to show off their exclusive PlayStation 4 Pro bundle. The set comes with a 1TB PlayStation Pro with a red paint job and a white spider logo, a matching wireless DualShock 4 controller, Spider-Man game Blu-Ray, and digital content. The bundle sells for $399.99 USD (MSRP) / $499.99 CAD (MSRP) and available for pre-order now.
