Fruits Basket gets a Stage play this year!

Fruits Basket 2nd Season, a follow-up stage production based on Natsuki Takaya's Fruits Basket manga will run from October 6–15 in Tokyo, the production's team said on Friday. The play's principal cast and a preview film were made public by the staff.

The new play will feature a returning cast. New cast members include:

  • Sho Ayanagi as Akito Sohma

  • Iori Noguchi as Isuzu Sohma

  • Daiki Miyoshi as Kureno Sohma

  • Masatoshi Shin as Kakeru Manabe

  • Marina Horiuchi as Machi Kuragi


A 26-episode anime series based on the manga premiered in 2001. From 2019 to 2021, a three-season relaunch anime series aired. Fruits Basket -prelude, a compilation movie for the rebooted series, debuted on February 18 in Japan.


From 1998 through 2006, Takaya serialized the original Fruits Basket manga in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume publication. From 2004 until 2009, the manga was published in English by Tokyopop. In June 2016, Yen Press reissued the comic in 12 revised omnibus volumes.

  • Shōhei Hashimoto as Kyo Sohma

  • Hiroki Nakada as Ayame Sohma

  • Shōgo Tamura as Hatsuharu Sohma

  • Ruito Koga as Momiji Sohma

  • Yūna Sekine as Kagura SohmaY

  • Yūto Adachi as Ritsu Sohma

  • Chisato Minami as Arisa Uotani

  • Yukari Nakamura as Saki Hanajima

  • Yuria Haga as Kyōko Honda

  • Seiya Inagaki as Kazuma Sohma

  • Yū Imari as Hatori Sohma

  • Yūya Asato as Shigure Sohma

The initial stage production took place at Tokyo's Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall from March 4–13. The play's executive producer and author, Nobuhiro Mri, also served as Tar Hasegawa's director. The play was webcast by Avex Pictures on March 12 and on March 24 with English subtitles.
