Akuma Kun manga debut Netflix this Fall

The next anime series of Shigeru Mizuki's Akuma Kun manga will premiere on Netflix simultaneously around the world this fall, according to the official Kitar Tanj: Gegege no Nazo (Kintar Birth: The Mystery of Gegege) Twitter account on Wednesday.
In the new Akuma-kun series, Mephisto the Third and Akuma-kun the Second investigate mysteries involving demons 30 years after the 1989 Akuma-kun anime. Toshio Furukawa will also play Mephisto the Third in addition to repeating his roles as the first Akuma-kun and Mephisto the Second, respectively. Playing Akuma-kun the Second is Yuki Kaji.

The anime is part of four "big projects" commemorating the 100-year anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth. Mizuki passed away in 2015 at 93 years old. Another project is the Kitarō Tanjō: Gegege no Nazo (Kintarō Birth: The Mystery of Gegege) anime film, which will also open this fall. The principal director of the Akuma Kun anime project is Junichi Sato (Aria franchise, Sailor Moon), and the series director is Fumitoshi Oizaki (A Centaur's Life, Romeo & Juliet). In 1989–1990, Sato directed the two films and TV animation Akuma-kun. The series scripts are being overseen by Hiroshi Ohnogi (2018 Gegege no Kitar, Noein - to your other self).
An animation for television based on the manga ran from 1989 to 1990. The first two anime movies debuted in 1989 and 1990. Since 33 years have passed, there hasn't been a new anime. Many live-action versions were also influenced by the manga.
The original manga was drawn by Mizuki in 1963–1964; he also illustrated several subsequent series in the franchise in the 1970s and 1980s. The manga centers on the youngster "Akuma-kun," who harnesses the abilities of demons to keep the world peaceful.
